There's two lighting wires on a SEM. If I use one yellow wire for the headline and running tail light I use one voltage regulator. The other yellow wire I use for the stop tail light with another voltage regulator??.

I have a Speedo, DOT knobbie and with lights and mirrors I'm street legal.

One yellow wire from the stator normally feeds a tee piece. One leg of the tee is wired to the voltage regulator. The other leg feeds the headlight and the twilight. The other yellow from the stator is a spare for running spots or charging your IPhone! The voltage regulator sometimes stops bulbs blowing....but don't count on it!

Re wiring, currently stripping down my '82 WR 250, should it have a separate Voltage Regulator or is it incorporated within the coil on the frame under the tank, see pic. Thanks for your help. DD

The two yellow power wires on the '83 SEM I ran the headline high/low beam on one wire while the other yellow wire operated the brake light/ running lite.

Using both of the yellow power output wires which are separate I figured I needed two regulators so no bulbs would burnout when running both systems.

Over the years, there were a couple different wiring setups INSIDE the SEM. So, since these bikes are old and could have had the stator swapped around, it's good to check which one you have. You will either find the two yellows discontinuous from each other but continuous with ground... OR... the two yellows are continuous with each other and ISOLATED from ground. That will determine how you wire.

There was another SEM with 2 yellows and a blue. I've seen these on some KTM's but I've not personally found these on a Husky.

My wr400 has 2 yellow and a blue running together with the same flat ends. The coil wires have the round connectors. I'm in the rebuild process and wiring is next on the list. What is the blue wire for?
