I'm not normally one to complain but...

I've been a member for over a year now and I can't PM another member about a classified ad. Can't post in the ad either.

    Sigh.

    Matt,

The not being able to post/respond to a classified is just part of how they have this site set up, no getting around that.

You should be able to start a conversation (this sites version of PM) with a seller, but there might be a minimum post count that you have to have first.
Its been a while and I dont remember.

FYI, I started a test "conversation" with you to see it if works.
Try to respond back if you can.

Simply click on the posters name then click "Start a Conversation"

    Hope this helps!

I've been able to respond to conversations, just not initiate.

Can you guys show me a screen snapshot of the "Start a conversation" button please? I'm not seeing it on my end. I'm using Chrome on a Mac so it could be Javascript that doesn't work for me.

2 moderators here and site owner is MIA.
if you don't mean to complain then don't title your post "what's WRONG with this forum"

have patience. it is free...like this forum.

    Sincerely
    Joe

    I never said I didn't mean to complain. I said I don't usually complain.

And I have plenty of patience. I just got to the point of finally complaining. The forum needs help. Acting like it doesn't is just ignoring the problem.

    Best regards,
    Matt

    Thanks Newfoundlander.

I had been clicking on the user from the beginning and got the same pop-up window but the "start a conversation" link was never offered. Amazingly it is offered now. Perhaps something was fixed on the back end... Regardless, thank you for the screen shot.

not going to get into yet another explanation but there are only 2 of us and we cannot fix the needs help part as not the owner.
Just trying to do the best we can. We do not have the ability to bring on more help (admin rights and web powers and such)
BTW I fixed your account when I checked today in some spare time. You are welcome.

Thank you Joe. Unfortunate that you can't find the owner.

This is worrying. When was the last time Coffee was active here?
Thanks for the effort keeping the forum limping on Joe.

I also prefer the term "pacing". Limping is too negative. One can always expect to "fall" but try to "fall forward"!

Does no one know him personally or have means to get in contact with him?
I think you (or someone) may have to start looking into what can be done to try and break the forum out of this situation.
Thanks again for your continued efforts here.

We have not been "waiting" for 2 years. Have tried and tried again. e mail, home, phone, cell etc. He owns the site. period. appreciate the concern but the thousands of members with the "good idea" comments gets old. please enjoy the site as best you can until a rectifying solution comes forward.

    Thanks

    OK,
Maybe make a thread stating the situation of the forum, lock and pin it so anyone with the same concerns can simply be directed to it and the situation will be made crystal clear with minimum fuss.
Thanks for your help and i didnt mean to try your patience
