Recently installed a new charger port and when iPhone is plugged in it goes on and off of charge over and over.. the connections are good and the charge cord is good? The light that’s reads the battery level is solid all the time so shouldn’t that flicker too?

Have you tried charging another cellphone? It seems to me that the USB port is not providing enough amperage. DC-DC converters can have these kinds of problems if they are not of decent quality.

well thats a bummer. There's only 3 components in the mix. Not to hard. Pin 1 and 5 should show 5 volts. Pin 5 being the active.
Things to check are polarity to the USB, Dodgy/cheap 12 to 5 volts DC conversion. Rated at 2 amps max although the iphone will still charge at 500mA.
And some non genuine lightning cables throw errors, displayed on the phone itself.
    Without pics makes it hard
