    The stock 449/511 filter is quite large...about twice that long. If someone distributes those in the US, I may give it a go.

    ...nevermind, I was looking at the short one in the top picture. The long one in the lower pic looks quite similar to the stock one.

    Yes, Looking at their fitting/cap it looks like they had to find a filter about 20mm shorter than stock...which would still be pretty good sized. I had always imagined doing this by extending the cap out, not in....but their way keeps it less in harms way.

    That oil cooler isn't going to do anything. Even with a large oil cooler on the front forks, we could only get a 10 degree drop in temperatures. We are currently working on a different kind of oil cooler which will lower temperatures down 40 degrees, but we are several weeks out on that project.

    That's what I meant - water-cooled oil cooler. Very nice.

    What climates and/or conditions would you say that an oil cooler would be a "should have?" Understanding, of course, that cooler oil is almost always better.

    What kind of effect do y'alls expect to see in terms of extending drain intervals? Or has that been a consideration at all?

    Long range high speed desert racing or extended racing events. Otherwise if you run my breather oil tanks setup, the additional oil will take care of most everything else.

    There's not a whole lot of places to stick the thing and is why we went to great lengths to design a thin one out of the way. I suppose if if you modded the air box there would be room under there? BMW should of welded a breather tank into the frame like the X-lights, even if not on one side of the frame...

    So what are your thought on just adding a breather tank for the added volume, I already have your oil cooler adapter? After really thinking about what I was trying to accomplish it is really volume and not the extra cooling...that would just be a side benefit. I am really looking for a total volume of about 2qts so that I can extend the period between oil changes while on the road. This is geared more around Adventure type riding and not racing. I have looked at many oil tanks but none have really jumped out as the one, and not having any experience designing oil systems I am a bit apprehensive. You know that fear of toasting a motor on a new bike which isn't paid for.

    Can something similar be done for the X-Lites? It would be nice to have something that 1) helps cool a very hot running engine; and 2) increases the pathetic 0.9 liter oil volume.

    What about an oil cooler for the xlites!! Have a 13 310 TXC and I know with less than a quart this oil is getting abused!! I'm changing it after every race with Mobil 0/40 and it's coming out black!! Most of our races are 60 to 90 miles in length.
