    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Tools to chang fork springs

My buddy just got a 07 TE250, and he bought it from a guy that weighed about twice as much as him and had the suspension redone. I'm going to bring him on the Husky Monument ride that's coming up, but first he needs some suspension work. The guy had the original springs though, and gave them with the bike. I am going to change the springs out for him, but haven't worked on these forks. I have only worked on Honda's. I have a few questions before I dive in.

Where can I find the manual for the Zokes on this bike? Are there any writeups on changing the fork oil? Do I need any specific tools, and if so what tools (ie. fork seal driver, cap wrench)?

Any help will be much appreciated. I did spend some time and searched and could not come up with much info.

If the 250 forks are anything like the ones on the 450, you shouldn't need to even remove the forks from the bike to change just the springs. That much I know. Access them from the top with a couple of regular wrenches. I had to make an extention for a pick to get the spacers out,but other than that, it was pretty straight forward. I also added about 30cc of oil to make up for the lost volume of the spacer to each leg. The owners manual should tell how much oil goes in each tube. I think you can just bleed the lower cartridge with the assembly removed (and spring) from the bike and just turn the fork upside down and pump the damper rod back and forth till there is no more resistance. I haven't actually changed my fork oil yet (although I probably should), but it looks pretty straight forward, much like the designs of my KDX and EXC.
 
Call down to your local Husky dealer and see what they charge to burn you a copy of the manuals. I got mine from Hall's, but any should be able to sell you one.
