Tomorrow I'm taking my boys riding, and my 6 year old is ready to ride without training wheels. Does anyone have any helpful tips that I can use. My 8 year old was 6 when he started riding, but never used the training wheels. He just jumped on and went. My 6 year old has always been a little more cautious with everything he does. He's been riding with training wheels since he was 4. Thanks everyone.

Yeah troy nailed it if he can ride a pushy then hel be sweet on a moto. My young fella got it within 10min of me runnin along side him. Jus get him to practice startin n stoppin n holdin bike weight up rite.

I refused to let my boy ride with trainin wheels(jus my opinion) on his pw50. Encouraged him to ride without n made him learn quicker. Kids cn jus b lazy n get comfy relyin on em

Give him a roomy place & make sure he knows how to use the brakes. I didn't & the little guy almost hit my car. He rode it on his own after I couldn't keep up & ran out of wind while running along side him holding the bike. Just gotta go for it.

Make sure you restrict that throttle if it has an adjustment screw. 50cc bikes should have one. I set my son at 1/4 throttle, after he hit the house. ha ha!

Yeh big flat open area(school oval or local park) is the go. I tried the throttle adjusterbut it jus made the clutch drag n sluggish to take off

Don't slow it down to the point it's harder for them to balance. I'd do it in grass.

Thanks for all the pointers. We'll see how he does today. We're going to a SVRA that has a few large open areas that are setup for kids only. I wouldn't let him try outside of the house so he wouldn't crash and get gun shy. Thanks again everyone. This is what makes this site top notch:thumbsup:

The best part was he really enjoyed it. When we were done yesterday, he asked me when we can go riding again. Talk about music to my ears.
image.png This is a screen shot from a video of both of my boys riding together. I just bought a KLX-110 for my 8 year old, and this was his first taste of it. Proud Dad moment yesterday.

This it at prarie city svra ( hangtown ). The kid tracks are perfect. The rest of the park is not that fun due to river rocks everywhere on the trails, but it's somewhere you can ride at.
