  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tips for 2008 te250 upgrade to 300

Any install tips when upgrading from the 2008 te250 to Athena 300 big bore kit. Any tricks or tips for doing this install/conversion? Kit comes with everything and new ecu. T

Anyone tweak the Athena 300 big bore with the iBeat? if so what adjustments were made.

When you say ecu do you mean the controller (Or commonley known as GPA ECU) Thats the one which should have 4 wires hanging of it the colours are Red-Yellow-Black-White and one wire on its own covered up with a bit of heat shrink. Its about 2.50 by 2.00" square and has a green and a red light on the end off it. If this is the one you have put it on using the instructions that comes with it, Because you have a 08 model you cant do any I-beat adjustments to that type of ECU, (thats why the kit comes with the controller, it overides everthing) The best thing to use would be the Dynajet Power Commander 5 and auto tune toghether. That would give you so much advantage and a better power overall. However i would just start of using that controller and fit a power commander later down the track. Once youve done the whole conversion you will feel a big difference than a 250cc. But apart from using the power commander setup there is not much more to do to make any more improvements. I have a 09 te250 with a 300cc kit and i was told not to use the GPA ECU because the 09 models can be adjusted with ibeat and still it is running to lean of the bottom(Even after richening it up all the way) so i need the power commander setup as well. Even though you have a 08 model you must tell whoever you are buying it of that your bike is a 09 model otherwise they wont sell you one. Hope this helps.

I think Motorsportz was selling a 300 kit with the 09 ECU. I have talked to a member here that did his install using this 09 ECU and the benefits are adjustable fuel mix CO1,2,and 3. The one negative is a blinking neutral light that seems to just be a quirk.

Anyway he was very happy with doing this upgrade. Ihave the Athena ECU and my bike is running fine but there is no adjustability so it's hard to know if it could be a bit stronger.

huskyte310 and XLenduroMan are two members to contact about the 09 version.
