• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

the world's smartest helmet.... heads up display, GPS, and more...

It seems to me certain elements can be useful but music and the rest can be a complete distraction. Like all the devices in cars today, take peoples concentration off the skill in front of them and accidents happen. Music to me masks engine and ambient sounds. A phone call in a critical turn can cause a wreck.

I'm sure all that can be controlled to whatever you need. Guys on long straight ass roads on touring bikes might love the music feature.

Actually that would not be so bad... If those with loudspeakers and open pipes on their bikes made the switch and just crashed into each other.

How often can I drop my helmet and NOT smash the camera? If it´s expensive, I won´t be able to use the wire and numbers lock when I leave my lid on the bike. Maybe more suitable for the Harley BMW types.

This is an innovative kind of helmet, so, understandably, it's expensive and probably it has to be perfected.
Like organ donor wrote, a very expensive helmet can create anxieties: what if you crash? What if someone steals it?
And what about the passive safety? It may be DOT/ECE certified, but I don't like the idea of having a little screen in front of my eyes while my face is bumping into a tree.
Anyway, I'm glad to find out that someone sells a product like this, because I hope that, within some years, it'll be improved and become more affordable. After all, here 3 years ago the cheapest 3D printer cost 10k €; now it costs 1.3k. The first cameras of mobile phones were pretty crappy and those phones seemed to be gaudy things; nowadays the camera is a must on the phones.
Maybe in the future there will be a thin OLED screen installed on the visor... .
Furthermore, on cross/enduro/supermoto bikes you have to divert your glance very much to watch the instrument; I'd like to have a little (but safe) screen in the goggle showing some infos.

yup i signed up for the beta testing stage back in mid 13 didnt get one tho sad times, looks awesome the rear view camera is the single feature i would purchase one.
chinese knock offs coming soon, not sure if they can patent a camera and screen combo but im sure manufactures wont be put off by that.
projector and a cmos sensor instead of the sugested items etc.
future looks good on development side of new lids.
