  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE Cooling Fan Install on TC/TXC

Whilst the fan should fit no problem, you'll probably need to switch it manually. On the fuel injected TEs the ECU controls the fan based on the temperature from the sensor on the back of the head.

Unless someone else has done the hard work and has an automated solution for TXC...?

Can I ask why you need one. I have heard that with a higher psi radiator cap and engine ice they do not seem to overheat. My old 06 450 does a lot of tight ST stuff carting a 250 pound bloke in the Ozzie summer and has yet to over heat with the stock cap, no fan and engine ice.

if anyone is interested in a TE fan I have one Im not using.
only time it kicked on was when stuck in traffic for a long period of time.

I put one on a TC with electric start, used a spare 12v connector in the harness and mounted a switch. You can find the Spal 4" fans on the internet for about $32. It was easier to mount mine in front of the radiator and use a pusher fan, if you mount it behind the radiator you'll need a puller fan. Just make sure you get the waterproof one.

Here's one on an XR650 Honda.

MXRider, do you still have the fan. My 2009 TXC 450 boils over if I look at it funny so I'm trying to find one.

I am going to! For my 09TE450. I know others have. I will do a report when I get it.
I kinda figure there's a reason they made the part available-& NO bad can come from upgrading the stock cooling system.

Just posted a thread about useing Evans and temp geting up to 230 on my Vapor(danger light)... It's not pushing coolant out so I assuming that it's NOT over heating, yet!!! So how did the fan and or water pump work out? I'm leaning towards a fan but not sure which route to go... EVANS is not to boil but I don't want any engine damage!!! Any pics of the fan mounted? Zip ties are the best option....
