A couple of my friends did it and liked it a lot. One was a 2007 TC 250 and the other was a 2008 TXC 250 both had better power with the conversion.

    Thanks Rancher!

I'm interested in knowing are there any down sides. Reason being one of buddies did a big bore on his 05 YZ250 WR a few years back and it did add more power pretty much everywhere but it did kill some of the top end over rev to the motor.

Then I was riding with a big group last weekend and one guy had a pretty new KTM 250 that he did a big bore and he did not like it. Said it took away the rev ability.

I'm looking to get more out of this little gem of a bike but don't want to screw it up if you know what I mean. That's what asking any members here that have done it what they think.

What year model is your bike?
The older big block engine could go from 250 - 310 easily with an athena kit. The newer x-lite engines was more complicated to change from 250 to 310. Many more parts.

Mines 2007 TE 250, so it's a big block motor.

I believe both of my friends bikes still revved out nicely.

I have ridden many times a 2006 TE250 belonging to a friend. I was a very nice bike and was just a tad underdone on the bottom end to mid range. Top end was very good.
As you can see I have 2 TE310's an 09 and a 10 both are mechanically sound and very robust as the bottom end is the same as the 250,450 and 510. The difference in bottom end to mid is very noticeable between a 310 and 250.
The increase in torque on difficult hill re-starts etc is very noticeable as is the ability to hold a higher gear longer. It would be a good investment.
