I have a 2006 TC510 that I am working on. I have the top end apart and want to replace the piston/rings.

What years have compatible pistons? Can I use a TE piston? There are several part numbers listed for the years 06-09 510 depending on TC/TE/SMR. I want to know if these are interchangeable. There is a decent price difference between several of these configurations (roughly $218 to $380 based on internet prices) with the TC510 piston being the most expensive (and the same part number throughout) and the SMR/TE piston having a range of prices/part numbers.

I have no idea about the availability of any of the pistons yet, but it'd be nice to know which of them I could use. Thanks for the help!

    For reference:
    06-09 TC 510 piston (8000A5484)
    06-07 TE/SMR 510 piston (8000A5480)
    08-09 TC/TCX 510 piston (8000A5484, same as 06-07)
    08-09 TE/SMR 510 piston (8000A9920 and 8000A9928)

The pro-x pistons I have seen are not very nice looking.

The difference is that yours has two rings and the te/smr piston runs 3 rings stock but I believe they are interchangeable. I'd look for the Wossner piston kit.. they are supposed to be really good for these bikes

Thanks guys. How does the Wossner compare in quality to the stock piston? Seems like the Wossner might be the answer if the quality is comparable.
