Looking for a steering damper for my '13 TE449. Anyone with experience, what are your thoughts? While Scott may be the most popular, our sponsors sell units and all things being close to equal I would rather send my business there.

The motorsportz unit does this only come in red? Red anodizing fades faster than I get sunburnt!

Does it require removal of the forks/triple clamp to install the ring that the damper attaches too?

No on the 449/511 it does not have a collar that goes around the frame it mounts to the frame right in front of the seat. You do need to remove the bars and bar mount to add the mounting plate the damper sits in.

I'll dig up some better pix later...

I have to claim ignorance - I never saw one before.

That is a really nice looking damper Motosportz. Good to know there are more options that just Scotts and GPR.

Scotts is amazing and allows the front wheel to return to center freely. I had this on my 450smr, and it saved me a couple times landing some wheelies wrong.

I got the GPR v4 on my ducati hypermotard. I wish I had picked up the scotts.

(GRP V4) It is a stabilizer. You just set it and its the same resistance throughout the stroke. One click is too soft, one click screws me up in the tight tight curvy roads. I get tired of fighting it and go back to 1-2...if I go too much im at 8 and its solid as a rock (very bad).

I had problems with headshake on uneven roads, had it about 3 times full on tank slappers in 4th gear about 90mph. It had enough to ALMOST lift the front rolling on the throttle to wide open, but wouldn't pick the tire, hit a bump and voila full on slapper. That said since installing the stabilizer (GPR) I have not had that happen at all. It does feel safer and less worrysome. So it seems to work. Just wasn't what I expected.

From the description the motorsportz is speed sensitive which is similar to the scotts, but after reading up on it I think it will be superior.

Cant wait to try one :D

Kelly's damper is unique in that it tapers off as you reach center. It's kind of a combination of both the Ohlins and GPR. I currently use the Ohlins because I run a radically locked down setting for both my low speed and high speed settings. I highly recommend Kelly's damper.

I'm looking into getting one from Motosportz. Is Kelly the person behind Motosportz?

Yes^ unfortunately when I was doing mine he was out of stock and so I spent the too much money on the ohlins scotts.

I had to fit the damper same time as I did the triple clamps......so I had to have setup in 2-3 days.

I would appear from the posts I've read that the Motosportz system is a good one. I like the appearance. Ready to order one, but want to research a little. I've also asked Tinken about what he thinks about this unit. I ride street and dirt, mostly street. At 80 mph I get a little wobble in the front with my super moto wheels, all balanced. And in the dirt, the front is twitchy. Ride primarily loose sand and rock in So Cal.
