7:30 AM coffee at The Daily Grind Coffee & Tea Station, 2001 De La Vina St., Santa Barbara, CA 93105. Exit the Ventura Freeway at Mission St. in Santa Barbara. 9:00 AM kickstands up at the trail head at the intersection of Gibraltar Road and East Camino Cielo, NF-5N12. There is a small area to park trucks and unload bikes at the trail head. This is what I'm going to do. It is a LONG, SLOW ride off the freeway up Gibraltar Road to the trail head, so give yourself a lot of time. This is a good ride for large adventure bikes, some pavement, and a lot of exploring. A map will be a good idea. Bring a sack lunch, snacks and plenty of cold drinks. We'll eat on the trail. Navigating these discontinuous roads and trails will be a challenge. Bring all the maps and GPS you've got.
