• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I know I have read some posts on speedo problems but not sure if this has been asked. My speedo is misreading my speed. Never had a problem until a couple weeks ago and it now seems to be showing at least double the speed I am traveling if that makes sense. (07 TE510)

Is there an easy fix or should I look at replacing it?

Everything else seems to be working fine.

Thx for any help anyone might have!

I know that has been discussed that the Stock computer is crap. The vibrations make it short out or something. After about 6months or riding my 07 TE450 it was pretty much dead. I replaced it with a Trailtech and like then new one MUCH better as it gives me engine temp readings + a whole lot more. There was a thread about how someone took it all apart and fixed it on TT somewhere... Can't seem to find it at the moment.

Well you won't get any speeding tickets at least.

Personally I'd check the connections, then when it is acting up whack it & wiggle wires to see if there are any changes to the symptoms. Something is loose and the only question is inside or outside the box.

Are you sure it's OK to use phrases like "whack it" in the technical sections. Are there no standards here???

Just purchased a Trail-tech, all plastic brackets, and light are broken on the stock speedo. Almost 400hrs. Does anybody know if the trail tech has an Hr meter built in? And if so can I input the orig. hrs into the new computer.

also have you tried reseting it by unplugging your battery for 15 minutes or so ???.. My dash acts funny about every 5-6 months. resetting it always cures it so it doesnt bother me that much.
