• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sparkplug???

Ok since I found out here the SEM ignition can be sparkplug sensitive with resistor sparkplug and using them is a no-no. Which sparkplug do you use in the SEM and motoplat ignitions?

Champion?
Bosch?
NGK?

It's a bit like reviving the oil thread ! Everyone has their favorites that they have used for the last god knows how many decades. It's a bit like oil, find one that works for you and stick to it.
Personally I always use NGK B8ES in the Husky's and a B8EV in the CCM's and other 4 strokes.

NGK B8ES. You also have to make sure you do not accidentally buy a resistor plug cap, almost all are resistor. If it is an NGK you can tell the resistance by the number, for example an LB05F cap has 5k Ohm resistance, an LB10F has 10k ohms. The best cap for our bikes is the LBER blue silicone cap with zero resistance.

I had a SEM ignition die after one ride years ago. I might of put a resistor plug in it. My first husky. Since the SEM IGNITION is so fragile I'd figured I'd ask. Sorry if I repeated a question from the past.

Another source of plug caps: Check ebay for the R90 rubber cap that's offered by 'skipsoldbikes'. It has the screw post for attaching to the plug wire, is non-resistor so it works well with magneto ignitions, has a sealing clamp and is sized to fit 7-mm plug wire; $5 ea., U.S., free shipping. He also has the 7-mm stranded copper solid core bumble bee ignition wire for a buck a foot if you need it... (At least, he had all that stuff when I first posted this info...)

That is a non resistor but it is more appropriate for a street bike, it is not very water tight, the LBER is what you should use on a Husky.
