    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Had a chance to do a little poking around on the south side of the mountains. A lot more creeks over there. The only route that connects the north side and the south side is an ATV trail called Old Carter Military trail. It is rated as a black diamond route for ATVs, and there is some black diamond terrain on it. I haven't had an opportunity to hit it with a riding partner yet, so I have only delved into a mile or two of either end of the trail. The north end is the most annoying in terms of rocky stuff, while the south end starts out pretty decent. I took the 501 down the south end a little way, yesterday. The ground was nice and soft from the day before's rain storm. Temps were cool enough that I had to wear a jacket, although the sun was out for the most part. Very nice weather for the end of August for sure.

Not to be nosey, but how far are these riding areas from your home (how much travel time), or do you just ride from your home? These are truly some beautiful areas.

I live in sort of the armpit of Wyoming (scruffy high desert), and while there are local trails and roads in my area, the terrain and scenery is quite uninteresting to me for the most part, so I drive south into close by Utah or Colorado for a refreshing change of scenery. That entails carting my bike some 65 to 110 miles to reach the good stuff. I don't mind though. I had to do about the same when I lived in Southern California, and gas prices were much worse there.
 
I was just typing the same question! How about emergency response in that area? Do you have cell phone coverage or anything?

Scenery is amazing! It would definitely presuade me to get a plane ticket... :)

Cell service can be a bit spotty, but less so if you use Union wireless which is designed to have maximum back country coverage as it uses all carriers towers. I always carry a Spot with me too

A 'spot' ? One of those satellite SOS beacons used on the sea for example ? How expensive are those and how do they work ?

It costs about 115 a year for service and is a little orange thing about the size of your palm that when activated will call for help. There are different models, and mine is a few years old now. https://www.findmespot.com/en-us
