• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sm610 Won't Start After Timing Chain

Celesta

Husqvarna
Hello everyone

I have problems with starting my sm610 from 2007
Keihin 41 carb
I change timing chain and did valve clearance.
After that it won't start cranking something around 80psi
I have a spark on spark tester but ( crank couple sparks and stop I don't know if it's working like that.
I'm waiting for leak down tool.
I've tear down it again to check timing. Dot in cam gear level with surface from intake side. 2 dots together on clutch side. Any ideas ?

I have noticed something interesting but first I show you my timing marks from both sides dot level with surface and 2 dots on crankshaft aligned.

And one more maybe very important thing, when I changed the cam chain I've noticed the coolant from reservoir tank not flowing down and noticed the hole was glued and I think that's might be a reason of my low compression now because head gasket leaking and the hole was glued with purpose by previous owner ?

Now I have a question does TDC (two dots aligned on crankshaft should be aligned with Flywheel A||T ? Because in my is way shifted

Hello

It's been a while since the last time in which I replaced the cam chain, but I can tell you that, at least on my 2008 model, which has an EFI system instead of the carburetor, the alignment of the timing dots shown in your pictures is correct.

If you see a couple of sparks and then nothing despite the fact that the engine is still turning because of the starter, that's not right.

As far as I know, your model has a different flywheel than the one in my bike; I have watched some pictures of my flywheel and there are no A and T letters, though I remember having seen them in some pictures of older models.
However, in both our models there is a Woodroof key between the flywheel and the crankshaft, so when you reinstall the former on the latter the ignition timing should be preserved.

I also have some questions because I haven't understood some things:
• If you are waiting for the compression tool, how can you know that you have 80 PSI while cranking?
• Which one is that glued hole you have written about? Do you have any pictures of it?
• Did the engine work correcty before you replaced the chain?

Ok like you said, and I was wondering flywheel in wrong position A||T have to be aligned with dots in head surface and 2 dots together on crank gear and transmission. Any way I'll do leak test and compression on hot. Bike working

Send photos of those marks

All this signs should go together
