• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Running Camansi Creek - FEB 2015 riding

This is part of the February 2015 exploration riding I had planned for the Camansi area before getting a little sidetracked... So in-order to show the more interesting side of the ride, I'll start with this attempt to climb out the river and up & over to the ridgeline on the north side. This would be riding from location #1 and ending at location #2. Instead, climb was too steep from this end so I ran the river and ended up at area #3. Then checked location #2 on the way out and back towards home.

Here's the GPS view of the ride and the stats of the ride ... 3 miles in length and this is about as gnarly as I like it when creek riding ...

Nothing too exciting here ...the climb out from the floor is easy enough to spot.

Took 3 different days to ride this out for various reasons ...First ride was on my 010 TC250 Husky. This was the final ride on this bike before the 300HR ring-replacement job. Both these pics are taken at start of the blue towards the lower middle of the map.

Here's the top side (point #2) of the ridgeline ... Not bad on the start but just down the trail was a ~steep climb and turn that will not be too easy for my skill set ... Hope this can be a 1-way trail at least.

Here is the Husky parked on the top ridgeline ... After this pic, about any path you see in these pics is the trail we are riding.. The bluffs you see in the pics are called Camansi Bluff. This land feature can be spotted from quite a distance.

Trip 2 & 3 were on the 2008 WR250 Husqvarna branded bike. This ride was too late in the day to keep pushing but I did get a few descent pics ..ESP the last one here I think.

Here's the 250cc 2t bike sitting at the point #1 ... Really cool looking but there is a ~15' almost straight up climb just beyond the bike ... And that's my crew in the background ...They sent me in there ...

This is a family ( I guess) who are working the dirt in this location. One of the guys followed me thru the trails to help keep me going the the correct way ... you can see this on the videos below...

The Husky sits on the ridge top after looking at the trail at point #2... Camansi Bluff in the background.

The trucks here are one of the few things that are of the same size (big) as the rest of the world ...Seems, at least to me, that due to the limited space here, that most things are smaller in size than what I'm used to ...

These creek runners don't really need 4WD in most cases because of the rock \ lava bottoms of the creeks give plenty of traction ... These guys will load that truck with shovels ... I'm a dirt farmer from AR and know shovels ... But my hats off to any man or woman who will work this hard and have a good time at it.
