Removing the charcoal canister?

Hey everybody, I just got my 2012 TE511 a few days ago and I love it, only problem is I don't like the way the bike is corked up and restricted so much.

The most annoying thing is the charcoal canister! It's huge and gets in the way of everything! And not to mention, but it's ugly. I noticed it has a slight suction coming from the vent and if you cover it with your finger, the bike stalls out.

So before I remove it, does anybody know what I should do to the ports that the charcoal canister would have been attached to?

And after that, I want to remove the O2 sensor and cap it, but I don't know how to handle the rest with the computer.

Lastly, does anybody know if there are any extra restrictions on this thing that I don't know about? Like in the air box perhaps?

    Thanks!

    Have you looked at this?

I removed all that EPA stuff and as I can not really remember all the details.....the task is very easy to do though . Just follow the hoses and find what they connect to. You should be able to determine what to do from there.

    These might also help.

Take the hose that comes off the right side of your gas cap, it should be the long one that runs to the can. Re-route it down the sub frame to the shock area threw suspension linkage and trim it... Pull the brass plug out off the head where the intake vacume skims the can and heat it up with a propane tourch then feed some 60/40 lead solder in it...screw it back into the head.... I'm pretty sure all the can is used for is to catch fuel droppings from the fuel tank..... Your bike will idle and run much better when you do this mod.

You can cap off the manifold line with a 1/8" vacuum cap found at local auto parts stores. Make sure you reroute the gas tank vent line all the way back to the shock area so that you lessen the chance of breathing in fuel fumes. I found out the hard way after becoming pretty loopy one afternoon... Haha

Wow, thanks guys. So basically from what you are all telling me, the charcoal canister is useless. I certainly am not worrying about taking it off anymore! Again thanks for the help guys.

The vent at the bottom of the can let's in air that leans out your fuel/air mix. Not good for performance.
