  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Really good JD settings for 2012 TE 511.. Here !

I'd like for a few to try these settings and report back your opinions here . These are improved settings from my past posts . If you have different mods or no mods try them anyway and see if these make your bike run better. Settings are for power up plug in . 449 TE welcome to try and report back , thanks guys.

Soo...... Should I try or not try these settings on my11 tc449? I was under the impression a te 449 is only different with a 6 speed transmission and a double butterfly throttle body and a little bigger tank and lights is this not correct? My bigke is fully stock with a full Akro system from the factory I'm looking for some settings for the "flameout" issue while lugging in tight single track

If it were me I would try with caution. The first sign that it runs worse I would put your settings back .

Cams are different, pipes are different....and the throttle body.

TE and TXC are the same except for ECU setup and the TE settings seem to work fine on my TXC.

Thanks rearwheelin ill do that. I'm still looking for proper jd tuner setting for my bike. Is it going to be hard to find a good one or do I have to funk around with the unit till I find something that works? I thought these units are "fool" proof and you can't hurt your motor too much with these units. I understand if its too lean it will run hot and I know that's not good so I could bump up the numbers a bit. This is all new to me I would like a little more jam and the stalling issue to be fixed. Actually I want the most out of this bike!! Hehe

The numbers I posted are awesome on my bike ! It freely idles and pulls hard when you pin it at any rpm, runs nice and smooth when holding a steady speed. When chugging from a dead stop it torques like a 650r ! lol you know if it's not running right :)

I've found depending on your elevation (where you live and ride) do your tuning accordingly,i like to keep my 302 a little on the lean side what i mean by that is the center ceramic of the plug should have a light brown color,if you jet for that and where you live you'll be good almost anywhere..My bike has lived with that jetting "rule of thumb" for 9 yrs now and i ride at 2000-8500ft in Kennedy Meadows elevation every year without changing jets...

The setting seem to be pretty good. I just installed the JD Tuner today for a 08 510TE that was running so lean I was getting 50 plus mpg. It popped a lot and backfired often but it was lean. I had a real flat spot about 1/8 throttle that sometimes found me sitting at a green light with a flame out. With these settings, it seems to want to go from a stop without hesitation. I'm hoping for the best.

I tried the settings suggested, pretty good though for where I live and for my bike I tweaked to the following:

G: 3
Y: 4
R: 3 (made a little richer)
G/B: 4 (reduced a little - too rich)
Y/B: 4/5
R/B: 3
2 ¼ (+/- 1/8th) Air By Pass Screw

I still have a few issues with flaming out, still tweaking.

Thank you guys for all the posts. Makes me know my decision for PCV+AT was the correct decision for me. $200 and jack with tuning and settings and tuning and settings or $500 and done.

Red 3 on mine is 3 mph slower top-end in 6th . It took a little while to get the flame outs minimized . If you can get your rpm's to fall easy into the idle when coming off throttle seems to help.

Your off topic . If you don't try these setting then no need to post. :)
