  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Question on Cagiva 250 6 speed transmission

K5PL5

Husqvarna
Pro Class
So i have been looking around and found a Cagiva 6 spd trans available. Its a 6 speed from a 2 stroke 250. Problem is, the seller doesnt know what year the bike was. He has no crankcase to go from for numbers or stampings. Would this be compatible with a newer Cagiva based WR300 motor?

they seemed to take the same route as Husky and not radically change things, so without doing a ton of research the biggest change might be the clutch and how it mounted
not sure on this but just saying
a friend has a Husky and Cagiva shop so he would be a good resource, I will shoot him a text on this

The years to look for that will work in the new bikes :
360cc 92-02
250cc 92-98

Doesn't help you identify what you have I realize.......

It looks correct from the hiway. You are definitely missing the needle bearings. Here are a couple of pics of the 6 speed next to the stock 5 speed:

according to my friend the Cagiva engines were rebadged as Husky, and as pretty much the same, they used the 250 parts as is and revamped a few parts and changed the bore and stroke and came up with the 360 in 92

Would the needle bearings from the 5 speed tranny work?

If I recall (it's been a month or two since I did mine), the needle bearings were the same size between the two, but you might not have enough to just pull use the ones from your 5 speed.

I used a 6 speed from a box of extras that came with my 360 and it had the needle bearings with it, so I used them.
