I am going to order some engine parts for my 04 TE450

The parts book shows two part numbers for the piston rings.

They are 8000A009 and 8000A0855 with a notation by the second number A and the symbol for a British pound.

How do I know which to use or order?
Someone suggested one number is the oil ring and one the compression rings but I've never heard of ordering rings that way.
Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom

That is what I recall... and after 30 minutes of googling I'll give up.

    Hopefully someone will speak up.

I looked it up on there as well. It looks to me like Number 6 (8000A009) is for the two compression rings and the oil ring. If you look on page 2 it shows all the abbreviations, A is for a Alternate part, maybe from a different supplier I am not sure. The pound symbol I have no idea. My guess would be that you want the part number 8000A009 but your dealer should be able to make sure for you. Hope this helps.

husky used 2 different suppliers, you need to know which one you have, one of the ring sets are thicker.

found out today from Hall's you have to know what brand piston the engine has. Mine is an ART (made in Taiwan btw)
Dont know what the other brand is and not sure how you are supposed to know which part number to order.:banghead:
    frustrating

How did you find out you have an ART piston? Did you take it apart?

At the risk of stating the obvious: I'm not going to be very happy if I need to tear down my bike, put it out of commission, look at the piston, hope it is marked with who made it, then order & wait for the correct parts.

    frustrating...
