• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Parts for 630

Hey everyone! I'm coming back from a hiatus. I had a 2007 SM610 and tomorrow I will be picking up the SMS630.

Where are you guys buying parts? Are OEM parts such as valve shims stocked at KTM dealers?

What about aftermarket parts? I might look into doing footpegs and handlebar shortly after buying.

I am in the US. Thank you. Usually I have no issues finding parts on Amazon and Ebay but this seems harder to find than most.

Generally speaking (meaning over the long haul, since I bought the bike) I’ve not had major issues getting parts. However, over the last couple of years it’s become increasingly difficult- at least hit or miss.

Not long ago I needed the rubber boot between the air box and throttle body. Every place I talked to said “backordered- 1-3 months...just depends.” It was the lesser of that time frame, but still disconcerting. A few other things have been tough too.

It was, after all, a short run bike. If it’s not your only bike then not as big of a deal (that’s not me though- it is my only bike so the potential for significant downtime is concerning.)

Now- that said- it shares some components/parts from other Huskies of that period, so sometimes a little research proves worthwhile. SWM also produces the bike, now, so there’s that avenue also.

Just to give you guys the heads up. I ordered an Ignition coil and a spark plug cap from Italhusky.com, a couple days later I get an e-mail from them (Andre) That the ignition coil has been discontinued. I then on the spot thanked him for the update and replied that I would like to cancel the order because the ignition coil is really what I needed.

I get no answer back and a few days later just the spark plug cap only shows up, with the result being I got a refund for the coil but not for the shipping of the ignition coil, so I payed $65 shipping for a $20 part. I e-mailed asking for a partial shipping refund but no reply for a week now, and shipping is proportioned to the amount of the parts cost, not flat rate.
So really I should have been charged about $20 for shipping instead of 65. I'm definitely not ordering from there again.

For me this works out a lot, https://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/husqvarna/2011/sms-630 With excellent customer service and quick replys and resolves. if I can't find what I need there, I copy the part number and paste it https://www.ktm-parts.com/ OR https://www.bikebandit.com/ if all fails I usually find at least a used part that has been discontinued on Ebay.

I have a brand new ignition coil, but unfortunately I live in Europe. But if you dont manage to get one we probably can figure something out.

I have been talking to a local bike shop (UK) that had a SWM 650 in the showroom & i ordered a part from SWM for my 610 (we will find out if it fits) & its probably going to take 4 months to get it, because they said that how long it took a SWM clutch slave to get to them. So, of you are thinking about getting parts for your SWM, dont delay, get them ordered & prepare for a long wait.

What are you after Spice Weasel???

Interesting discovery. The RS650R/Superdual engine is not identical to the TE630 donk! The SWM clutch cover gasket doesn't fit the 630, so the engine is a bit different on the clutch side.

comparing the husqvarna vs swm part numbers it is easy to understand the parts that match. these parts are not all but many. we are lucky for this ....

Was asking the bike shop where my part was today & got told that the SWM parts shipper had went bust & that they were still waiting on a shit load of SWM parts to arrive (actual quote :)) including mine. Apparently the parts are trickling in at random, the shop owner seemed fairly sick of the matter as well.
I really dont want sourcing parts to become a major issue, i will quickly get frustrated if i miss a summer of riding having to wait for parts.
Will end up getting rid of it if it comes to that, had the bike about 6 years now.

Just curious why you're ordering SWM parts. At least here in the US all parts are still available through KTM. I just ordered a complete plastics kit for my 630. Six out of the ten pieces I ordered were in stock in the US warehouse which I got in 2 days, and the remaining 4 are coming from Austria which I'm told usually takes 4 weeks.

I would rather avoid supply chain is at all possible because it's probably minuscule and unorganized compare to a mega-corp like KTM.

Back in the days (circa 2007) I ordered all the rare SM570R Eddy Seel replica graphics and plastics kits and from Halls Cycles here in the US and they would order it from Cagiva Italy and even that I remember didn't take more than 5 week if I recall.

Also, be weary of used parts from Ebay, sometimes they sell for significantly more than what they cost brand new. For instance a used 630 front mudguard is selling for $60 on eBay while it's $20.43 brand new from KTMpartspro.com

yes, I initially ordered Feb 17th, got the first batch that shipped from the US on the Feb 20th, and the second batch which came from Austria on March 5th. So getting parts from Austria is about 2.5 weeks, given the world was in a different state of order at that point....
