  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

oil on my husqvarna tc 250 2005

there is a oil blog on here somewhere , i use Shell rotella, you can run dino or syn, your choice. just change it often w a filter.

The factory recommended 10W60 AGIP Synthetic. Motorex also makes a synthetic 10W60 that is available that is available on-line at rocky mountain cycle. Some (strongly) feel that the factory had a specific reason to recommend this oil and spend the $$$ for it.

Others use shell rotella "triple protection" 15w40 "dino oil" and change it often as it is less expensive. Others take a "middle road" and use shell rotella t6 5w40 synthetic. Both of these are for diesel truck use. But they are low in moly so are okay for wet clutch applications and shell certifies this with JASO for motorcycle use So very good for use in our bikes.

I have read that the shell rotella t6 synthetic will shear down quickly (lose viscosity) when used in a motorcycle - so don't think you can run "extended drain intervals" with it. I would treat it just like the shell rotella 15w40 dino oil. Change it often.

Me - I am running shell rotella t6 5w40 synthetic and changing it often. But I am thinking about switching back to 15w40 rotella "dino oil". You can find shell rotella 15w40 at any auto parts store (or walmart). The shell rotella t6 full synthetic is sold at walmart.

We use Mobil 1 0W40 and I also favor Shell T6 5W40. I recently started using the M1 in my KTM race bike, it has a kevlar clutch and it worked flawlessly.

In my 2010 450, in the hot summer, I run 1/2 Mobil 1 15w50 and 1/2 Mobil 1 0w40, for a net 7w45. In the winter, I am going to use straight 0w40.
