Well I've rounded off my drain plug......

no matter what swivel or extension I use I just cant get a good bite on it. The wrench just rounds off the plug.

So...is it ok to heat the plug with a torch? its next to oil so I'm concerned its going to explode or flame up....

Any other ideas to get it off? I bought some removal tools but just cant get the angle.

I REALLY dont want to remove the engine to get it out.

    h...e...l...p......

    It's no problem at all.

but you actually wanna heat the area around the drain plug (and if you can: cool the plug off. "Dust Off" works great; "Right Guard" isn't bad).

lay the bike on the ground so you can get at it easier. heat evenly to about 200°F and maybe try one of those sockets for rounded heads or studs... and the Vise Grips as a last resort (before a chisel that is)

Have a new drain plug ready to go before you remove the old one; not too much torque (<25lbs?) when you go to tighten.

    good luck

    PITA!

The 2010's don't have the little cut out in the frame to help access the drain plug the newer bikes do. It's a tight fit in there.

Worse case if you pull the swingarm for lube you can pop off the pipe and lever up the motor pretty easy with one of the front motor mount bolts out.

    Good luck
