Seeing oil around the spark plug area, wondering what the most likely cause is before ripping it apart? Any thoughts? I presume its a gasket that needs replacing, but not sure which one... TE610 2008.

Mine did the same but not that bad

It's the inspection covers over the valve tappets above the exhaust.

There is no gasket...just use silicone.

Check your valves while you are at it.

Mines doing that with new gaskets and some instant gasket on it. It's not much so I top up a little every now and again.

oil is probably leaking around the bolt threads that hold the valve covers on, i used some indian head gasket shellac on the threads, sealed it right up.

Thanks so much for the replies! Puts me at ease a bit. For now I'll clean up the mess and top-up. I'm due for a valve inspection soon...

It's the only thing I hate about this bike.

    It's a greasy oily Italian.

When I bought the bike, the first valve check I did, I had to scrape off the oily dirty mess covering the entire front half of the cylinder head with a screwdriver.
