• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

multi-bike steering damper?

04asphalt

Husqvarna
AA Class
I would like to add a steering damper but to justify the cost I need to find one that would fit my 610 and a 03 ktmexc. I know nothing of SS, is there such a unit?

Most all brands of rotary steering damper are a damper unit, and a mounting kit. Motosportz, Scott's etc.
It's the mounting kit that makes it specific to a bike. One damper assembly, two mounting kits and you're good to go.

Many bikes/kits utilize some of the same parts... I mean, there just aren't that many variables.
For example, the Scott's set-up on my Sherco is comprised of a modified KTM clamp-on post mount and a Suzuki top clamp.

Call Kelly at Motosportz... he'll sell you what you need to make it all work.

so you think if I get a used Scotts for the KTM I could buy some mounts from Kelly to make it work on the Husky?

dose the bolt holding your go into the frame or is all the force on the plastic tank:confused:

IMHO that is not a good way to do that. Structurally it is inadequate and could lead to binding and loss of control. The bolt is not large enough and the platform is relying on a plastic tank and and moving platform.

there is a lot of force on the pin and the right mounting kit for the bike is mandatory. Get 2 kits and one damper.
