  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Motoz tire for Baja / Dual Sport

Dust_Buster

Husqvarna
B Class
Looking for some feedback from those of you who have run Motoz tires in Baja or for 70/30 Dirt/Road dual sport use. Really Baja involves sand, silt, single track, rock, dirt road and pavement so it is a dual sport!

I ran a set of Desert HTs last year and although they wore like steel, I wasn't impressed with the front tire, especially back home. The rear was great in the desert but just ok back home on dirt roads and trail.

The Enduro IT looks good but I'm thinking the rear might be squirley on pavement with the big sidewall block spacing?

That leaves the X-Circut I-HT and Tracula, has anyone tried these tires in Baja?

i have run a few different rears in baja but always fall back on the dunlop 606. i can't find a better lasting tire. we go every year for 2 weeks and ride all the terain. the fast 2 track, the washes, the hidden single track. we will put on about 2000 miles on our trips and the 606 seems to be our best option, loaded with sleeping gear, tubes and water. i have also contacted ricardo at rice n beans in san ignacio and he will get tires for you at a premium.

rear tire: dunlop 606
front: maxis dessert it, michelin baja

just my 2 cents. if you contact ricardo he will most likely get a 606 so you could run the motoz and see how it performs. i stick with what works in baja. if you need ricardo's number i might have it some were.
