  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lower foot pegs

I've got Fastways on my 2013 310. Can run them in stock position or low. Mine are low and it's about a 12mm drop, also back a bit too. There is a small issue when using these but I like them too much too worry about it... Check here http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/fastway-pegs-issues-on-te310r.34378/

Also, check the husky specials parts catalogue. There are billet pegs available that have a 5mm(?) drop.

The Fastways were the lowest I could find...

I think your pegs are the same as my 2012 TXC310 which are the same as Yamaha pegs. The cheap way is to find some used Yamaha Fastways on EBAY or - saw off the 1/2 inch or so of 'nub' on the peg that the peg bolt runs thru and let the peg drop about that much on the bolt. (swap the peg springs from left to right and right to left) A lot of people will warn you that you are placing a lot of stress on the middle of the bolt by doing this and it could be an issue. I weigh 192, don't ride mx, and have ridden my Husky and various YZ250's with this mod for at least 6 years without issue but - I see their point.
I had Fastways on a Honda and the 'nub' was movable from bottom to top which was how you selected the peg height. It was engineered to slip into the peg a little but I don't really think it did much to change the location and magnitude of stress on the bolt.

Like MikeB said, cut and flip at your own risk, but Ive done it on all my Huskys....and I weigh 60lbs more than he does and my favorite riding is on high speed desert stuff with whoops.

Thanks guys, I don't quite get what you mean but ill check it out on the bike later on. I might try the free 'mod' and if I feel it makes a lot of difference and like it ill grab a pair of fast ways

We are talking about cutting the part that the spring wraps around, and then moving that to the other side of the cleat. This requires reversing the springs from one side of the bike to the other.

Again, this isnt a strong as the stock setup, or as something like the Fastway that is engineered to do this so proceed at your own risk.

The Fastway pegs have a removable collar that can be inserted above or below the peg cleat.

Can you re-use the 'nub' that you saw off? I will most likely give it a weld on the other side for strength

The Fastways are made with the groove for the collar to set in....not sure there is enough meat in the stockers for that.

The YZ 2 stroke forum on ThumperTalk is the next best forum to CaféHusky. If you search there you will find details on the peg mod - and on other peg options such as 08 and newer YZF pegs which are about 12mm lower.

I can get some YZF pegs for a good price, how much lower do the fast ways go ? I found a pair of yz pegs that claim to be 5mm lower than stock so I guess that would make them 17mm lower than stock huskys (according to what mikeb is saying)
