Just wondering if other members have 1on a 80s bike and how much you like it?
Would be nice to have more range out of a tank of gas and some simple tuning on the trail.
Whats the perfect size for air thats 6 to 8000 feet above sea level for a 400/430, a 38mm still?

    Thanks

    Steve

Run the same size as stock, the Lectron flows more for the same bore size. It will make a big difference in fuel consumption, when Penton started offering them as an option it was as much for increased range as it was for performance.

I just bought a 38mm Lectron for my 87 430. I have not installed it yet. Working on my other Huskys right now.
Looking for a better breathing engine and improved running at elevations up to 7,500 ft.

Ordered mine from Motosportz (Kelly) here on CH. I received it just before he announced he's closing down.
I know he worked directly with Lectron to fine tune the offering for us 2-stroke guys. I would talk directly to Lectron to get your order right.

Exceptionally easy. Mine came from Kelly as well. Needed a quarter turn on the idle screw; nothing else. Really cleaned up the mid range on my bike.

I did get the motion pro cable and throttle with mine; I wanted a "once and done" install. I put the Lectron on this bike after using one on my '96 WXE. I can't see me ever going back to a Mikuni. I dual sport my bikes and really appreciate the way that part throttle openings are so clean and surge free with no tuning hassles. Neither of my bikes exhibit any tendencies of loading up or needing to be "cleaned out" even from cold starts.

ive dealt with kevin @lectron and hes very helpful. its not often you get to speak with the owner operator. im looking forward to installing a lectron on my 87 430. i have all winter, as my "snow bike" has one already..
from watching your videos, you will love how the lectron meters fuel at the lower rpm ranges.

i would bet anything a 38 is perfect size for the 430. the 38 pulls awesome from a standstill and greatly enhanced top end on my 360.

i had the original mikuni working well on my 360, so it wasnt really a matter of finally having a carb adjusted correctly. some have a fixation that thats all a lectron is good for. people that dont know how to jet. they are easier to jet, but they do operate much differently than "normal" carbs.
the power jet feed tube can be shortened or lengthened to alter the operating range of the power jet, in addition to the "main" being adjustable externally. 2 features that are freaking awesome. the clear bowl is just a bonus.

Cool. I got the cable and throttle too.
My 430 runs pretty good on the Mikuni, but loading up on downhills is a problem.
I'm looking forward to clean throttle and less loading up.

I now have 3 of them on 1980's bikes. They all run well right out of the box. Don't save money buying an old one I spent more in parts updating mine than I would of just buying it new. Complaints, I don't like the Motion Pro Cable that is optional from Lectron, I have never had one fit right, I'm always making a spacer or something to make it work for the first ride, wile I'm waiting for the Terry Cable that I should of ordered to arrive that will fit right out of the box. I like to drain all the Gas after each ride, and the Clear Bowl doesn't have a drain.( there must be a way to put a Tee in the Power Jet Hose that will do it, I just haven't yet ) The Carb is made in the USA, and there for it is not Metric, so the Metric Tools You take to the Track don't fit. ( Some come with Flat Head Screws, and some come with Allen Heads, If Allen, take a set of Std Allen wrenchs ) Yes I am nit picking.
Its hard to describe, but a Bike with a Lectron just feels different when You ride it. And it feels good....

    1982 XC 430,
    Thanks for the heads up.
Not nit picking in my mind. The nits add up.
+ on the Terry Cable and I drain my fuel often too.

But nice to know the bike runs good. Can't wait to try it.
BTW, I like the front disc brake on your 82. From a 87 or 88 Husky?

    Thanks for the help guys.
I have the same issue with my bike, loading up on long down hills.
I have to keep it running with throttle on and off when going down steep hills.
I would like to know for sure that a lectron swap is the cure and will end that issue??

The Front end on the Bike in the Picture is a 97-99 KTM. Its about the most modern European ( Marzocchi ) Forks that are still right side up so they look right on the bike. This set up bolts right on, You need to pull the Pucks out of the Steering stops on the Frame. Even with this done the Steering still can't turn quite as far, but unless Your doing some sort of trials event you would never notice. These Forks have a reputation of being some of the most plush riding forks ever made. However I think the stock forks with the Gold Emulators are just as good. The front Brake is the main advantage, as long as your not Vintage racing, as it will throw You in a modern class.

    Hey guys

So whats the scoop on the throttle or cable set up?
Is the stock inner cable too long or has the wrong end to work on a lectron?

Going down hills and loaded up with fuel will not be an issue after the swap???

    Thanks

cant offer help on the loading, i dont really have too bad a problem with it. i cant say a lectron will fix your issue but they run and idle very cleanly with a noticeable mpg increase, so i wouldnt be surprised if your issue wasnt at least minimized.
lectrons often come with a motion pro gasser clone throttle, im using a 90s magura throttle that i prefer on all my bikes with a cable lectron sent me so maybe best to speak with lectron about throttle combos. Photo323.jpg Photo324.jpg

Does that throttle pull open faster, less of a twist to wide open?
