• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Kill Switch Wiring?

Chayzed Pilot

Husqvarna
AA Class
Ok here's the story, picked up this bike, 78CR 390. Has a 1980 motor in it. I am doing a race resto on the bike and have come to hooking up the electrics. Pretty self explanatory, has spark, and now I am needing to hook up the kill switch. The kill switch on the bike was a single wire that was hooked up and taped off on the handlebars. I am going to use a Honda switch with two wires. I know the green is for ground but, but the $100 question is where does the other lead go. In the wiring harness there are two left over wires, one yellow and one white. Does the kill switch wire go to the blue wire on the coil and I piggyback it in or? And also what would the other two wires be. I am thinking a light? Or? I can't find a wiring diagram in all my searching.

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,
On my 79 390CR the white and yellow wires are taped off and not used.
The black and blue wire connectors plug onto the coil as you know, but my blue wire connector has a second blue wire in it.
The second blue wire goes to my kill button.
And yes, the green wire on a Honda switch would go to ground.
I believe the yellow wire is for lighting. Sorry I don't know what the white wire is for.
Hope this helps,
Ron

Thanks Ron, I was kinda sure the kill switch goes to the blue wire. I just don't want to fry the Motoplat. It would be my luck.

Maybe someone else on here knows what the other wires are for. I would think one is for lighting. The other one could be for an extracelestial hook up?
