This has probably been covered somewhere by somebody, but I thought I would ask anyway (being superbly lazy lately).

I absolutely hate the dogbone kicker on my '83XC500, but it obviously needed to be designed the way it is to clear the rear shock on the down stroke. I tried swapping out my brother's kick lever from his '85CR500 but no dice....it won't clear the rear shock.

I want a straight kicker to get better leverage, but don't know what years or models of Husky's will interchange without smacking the rear shock. Any input would be appreciated!

I have this style from a 4t mid 90s Husky, no issues.

    Old Geezer,
Just get rid of that nasty kickstarter.
Here's what you need to install. Just pull, no worries!

Ok Dave, but this is a Husky dirtbike, not a freakin' chain saw. Plus, don't forget, I'm an old geezer and don't have the arm strength I used to have to reaf that pull-start unit. Imagine trying to turn a huge single-lunger 500CC with mondo compression. The rope would break before my arm did.

As for Mr. 86 400 XC's recommendation....First, is that what they called you in school ("86 400 XC, come to the front of the class and tell us what your true God given name is") - is the frame/shock geometry the same for the 430 and 500 '83 models? If so, I may need to keep an eye open for a 4t mid-90's kicker. Plus, that kicker looks very similar to the 500CR I tried but NOT HAPPENING. Excuse me for being mentally challenged, but what's a 4T so I know what to look for? Thanks in advance everyone....

Just kidding, OG. I once saw a picture of a Husky with a rope pull starter. Maybe Rokon or another vintage bike had one also.

Mr old guy ;) the Name is Steve. Sorry forget to put that in a post sometimes.

430 or 500 are the same fitment in 82,83 and 84.

4T lingo is for 4 stroke.

The few kickers i have seen are first off different by the way the bolt looks and placement that holds the 2 parts together.
I may be wrong but 84, 85 and early 86 have a Allen bolt on the top and it switched in late 86, 87 to have a side fastener.
That style got reused into the 90s on 4 stroke models also.

i fitted a left kick husaberg unit, had to cut off the swivel and weld onto the husqvarna mount but is way longer, clears the shocks and is held in place with the rubber stopper pushing the tip behind the exhaust chamber, i was extremely lucky when i welded the swivel on that everything fitted correctly, looks alot like the one in the picture above.
