Cal City does that. I don't camp in city limits or ride a green sticker so I don't pay their permit. They can apply for grants from Green Sticker funds like everyone else. I'm not paying twice.
Jeff met a dude who used to doze new roads for USFS in Kenndy Meadows,,he told me back in the day after a new road was cut they'd lay down some oil to keep the dust down in summer,,and 9 mile grade was all dirt can you imagine going up and down that hill with your motorhome and bikes in tow,and riding those early trails...
It was originally a log road years ago,,to haul logs out of the tule indian reservation in tulare county,,then slowly locals migrated up the hill, thats the short of it...
I remember driving Nine Mile in the mid 80s, when it was dirt. Things were about the same at the top, as far as pavement is concerned. Camping gear....not so plush back then.

Ben and his buddy both took 70s... only got stopped by snow banks on the upper Rincon. He also has run the Big Bear Trail Riders event on a 70 a few times. On the hard ways. Dudes a great rider.
Kennedy Meadows is awesome! Would love to go but I am committed to a ride the following weekend out of Oakhurst Ca (on the other side of the Sierras!). Details here if interested.
If you Stage at Miami take the trails that lead to Wowona, from there you can have lunch or ride to the valley floor in Yosemite,,if you have time take Glacier Point rd/Badger Pass it is worth going a little out of the way believe me,the most spectacular view of Yosemite...
Staging is out of the Elks Club campground. day 1 lunch is at Triangle store and day 2 lunch is Jones store. Looks hot in Oakhurst so I am hoping for the cool mountains. Anyone have an idea on Kennedy Meadows temps?
