I found an '86 510 for sale in Buffalo NTY-2 hrs away. Decided to go look at it even tho the poor thing was chained to a telephone pole. Looked like it had been out side for a while...
Got there it was a hillbilly house with the usual debris outside. What the hell. Ad said it ran and rode good. Guy comes out said he had a flat and parked it. So I look at the bike, start shaking the wheels and swingarm and everything is tight. Forks and shock have damping, neither leaking. Motor turns over w/good compression. Spokes and wheels are nice, no rust or dings. "Can't start it, no gas" WTF?? I check for spark-good. I decided I'd take a chance for $550.
Get it home, adjusted the valves, cleaned it up and sealed the rotted intake boot.
Gas in, it starts and runs with no bad noises!! A few parts and I'll have a rider!

My first husky was a 86 510 TE, it was a great bike that started easy. Just stay on top of the oil changes with the sintered clutch.
