There is never a race in BARSTOW. Checkers is racing Sunday in Stoddard Wells about 20 minutes up 247 from our camp at Cougar Buttes. A few of our guys will be racing it Sunday and riding with us Friday & Saturday. Checkers puts on a good race... but it has nothing to do with this event. Soboba is also this weekend every year... also nothing to do with this event. Ocotillo Wells Desert Dash Dual Sport ride also this weekend every year... again nothing to do with this event. Why am I poking a little fun at you... cause there is ALWAYS another event somewhere in the desert EVERY weekend... and someone always wants to point that out... as if......... So come on out and meet so folks and go riding.....................
That's actually one of my favorite places to camp. We train for baja there, across the valley is 7 miles of whoops.
I know, but the Checkers boys already have my money, otherwise I'd be all over it. I always thought JV was just a sand bowl surrounded by rocks, but discovered stuff I hadn't seen last month. Hopefully I'll have a bike to ride, otherwise maybe Tinken will let me borrow his...
The point is you don't have to choose... we pick this date cause we have guys that will not miss this Checkers race that live far away. So they get to ride Fri and Sat then race Sunday. Win Win Win
Maybe next year, never ridden Stoddard. I need a day to get aquainted with new boingers, fiddle with other stuff and camp and get a good night's sleep.
Looks like half the crowd is arriving Friday am to pm... SlashX ride Friday if you get there early enough. Check here for final details... http://ridersonline.org/2012/smf/index.php/topic,376.0.html
On my way Friday.................... Camp Friday afternoon............. Sunset Friday.......................... Thanks everyone that came out... special thanks to realfun1 for setting us up for the races on satellite... and to Mrs realfun1 for the pillow...
