  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Installed FMF PowerCore 4 Exhaust But...

Savannan

Husqvarna
A Class
Just received my FMF PC4 exhaust but I noticed that the stock husky exhaust clamp is too large. Went to the local auto parts shop and the guy told me just to use a automotive exhaust clamp...I guess you could if your hillbilly Joe(no offence to Hillbilly Joe, if there is one on here..lol :D)

What size do I need and what are those fancy clamps called?

Thanks

Sav

I just used high temp silicone, bolted it in place, let it set for 24'hrs. That is the instructions, that came with mine.
The FMF with map 3 (open exhaust map) really make her rip, though it's quite abit louder.

My FMF fit horribly. It was almost to the point that I had to call them and send another. Didn't want to wait though. I had to heat and bend the elbow supplied to a wider angle. Then I used a hack saw and sliced into the pipe so I could get more clamping power on the front of the elbow. I put a little high temp silicon on the pipe coming off the bike and then weaved some fiberglass strands into it to help fill the gap and then another gob of silicone to clean up the connection. I let it set up and rode it the next day with a huge fricken grin on my face. Did the jumper plug at the same time. It's really hard to believe what a monster the bike is after such a minimal mod.

I remember when some of us in high school would buy performance parts for our V8 cars and get minimal performance results out of each one. First came the glass packs and headers. Then a four barrel carb and manifold. After that, a good ignition system or a cam. As a package it was pretty good, but it wasn't until you pulled the whole motor and added higher compression pistons and heads with bigger valves that you truely got the power you were craving. All I needed on my 511 was a little jumper plug and a pipe....crazy!

I thought the same, except by loosening the header, for fitment it all went together. If you have not had it remapped
to map3 (open exhaust map) it will really make a difference. Only $40. I have been riding it like that and love that
set up. I am waiting for delivery of the PCV so I can try to have a docile tractor on technical stuff, and more of a ripper
Everywhere else. I smile at your talking about how the bike woke up, I remember being mildly amazed, and pleased
Because it ran like I had hoped. Enjoy and be safe.

Check out my thread from last year regarding new fmf install. It details the installation issue I had and gives a clamp part number.
