    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

IMS Tank leak What's the fix?

After a recent ride I noticed that the trailer had a faint whiff of fuel when I opened the door. A nose check around the bikes indicated it was my bike. Today I removed the tank (IMS 3 Gal.) and found signs of an obvious leak. The leak appears to be coming from the area around the right hand screw (left side in the picture).

I remember hearing of this problem before but a search turned up no hits. Can anybody offer advice? Is it worth contacting IMS?

All six screws were torqued properly. I'm pretty sure this is the source of the leak:

damn that sucks- so where did you get the tank from? IMS? Search justgastanks.com- I think these guys make good on all the IMS issues.

Haven't you had that tank for a long time?
 
On 2 IMS tanks for me, the plastic between the bolt holes was too thin. When the tank expanded, the area between the holes arced up and created leaks. I sent both back, not well designed. The only fix I could see would be gasoline resistant silicone seal.

Had the same problem with my IMS tank for TE 250 2010. I fixed the leak with a home made rubber gasket.
 
was having trouble sealing my stock tank after replacing my fuel pump..I used 3/32 buna-n from McMaster carr..could have used a much less thicker material..1/32 should do the trick...mine hasn't leaked since...
