  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Don't laugh just yet because this is going to be the next thing on the trail to pass you :oldman:.... Thats right , a 511 with panniers ! These hard cases may look grandpa , but there not :D ... They are easy to take off and way 2 lbs . Just got the first one half way on and already feels like it can handle 5 lbs  ... will post some more pics after they are done and the finishing touches are in place in my ''Trick Questions '' thread..

Thanks for looking !

My personal thoughts are that those carbon fiber brackets should be steel. Nice work but that looks like a failure waiting to happen. I could be very wrong just jumped out at me. Also what about angling them to follow the fender?

And I guess the glove in the first picture is your gesture at all my thoughts :D

I knew that one would tickle you !

If it fails no big deal , cost me $25 to build. The bracket were much simpler keeping them level. The carbon fiber is plenty strong the way it is being used and wont rust

You are wonderful at making us all think about the possibilitys with our bikes.
For the moment all I use is a backpack. The type with padded waist and chest straps.
Your very ingenious, and I just might try (steal) one of your ideas someday.
Keep us posted.

Thank you James  Dont forget me when you go big time :oldman:
