  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hydraulic Clutch Question

Husqvarna
Just picked up my first Husky and first bike with a hydraulic clutch. While giving the bike a good going over, I noticed some fluid on the clutch lever and around the reservoir. I wiped it up and after a weekend of riding, noticed a little more fluid near where the lever goes into the reservoir. Is this normal on these bikes or do I have an issue that needs to be addressed? Bike is an 09 TE450 with about 1700 miles. Thanks in advance for any advice guys.

It's fairly common, there are some defects in the master cylinder and you are going to have a tiny bit of fluid coming out whenever the lever is used. Nothing really you can do about it except maybe try to hone the cylinder walls a little but that's not guaranteed to eliminate it. I check my fluid about every other ride, and I carry a small bottle of baby oil on the bike. I wipe the area down after every ride. As long as your level does not get down to a critical level, you won't be troubled too much.

olderhusky rider gave you a good answer.let me say a little more,if you lose pressure, there is a replacement piston oring kit if you want to rebuild it.that goes for about $40.most of the time it works but not 100% of the time.a new master goes for around $200.dan

It doesn't take much oil to notice a leak or have dust stick to it. Mine has leaked since new. Just keep an eye on the reservoir every few rides.

They will also burp fluid around the reservoir cap if they are over filled. I keep my fluid level on the low side.
