• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ahh automatic .... is a nice theme
I m Jens from Germany .. and learnt English languagge 30 years ago at school .. so it isn t the best too
my father rode four of them during the 80 s
a 420/79, 500/84 , 430/85 and a 430/87 ...
he always was very excited about the power and the shifting ... he wasn t a fast rider, but he won a lot of mx starts only by opening the carb ... and this against the powerfull big bores from Honda, KTM and the horrible Maico 495

Hi Jens
more Automatic's HVA in the family, no luck sorry.
can-be aware of guys who still have the AE?
Could you do pass the message in Germany on the dirt vintage websites?
thank you very much

yes I can do ...
but in Germany the AE isn t very popular ... because people don t understand how it works ... they think it works like a usual one working in a slow automatic car from the 80s ..
I would buy one, just thinking about the old times. But I remeber my father was using a lot of clutchsprings flywheelweights and baskets. So I m afraid the bike wouldn t run for long without any special spares for the auto.

for those who are interested in the meeting has Lagor(64) France , the (7 8 9 and 10 July)

- Just before , the 6 July there is Enduro Monein (64) is 10km, with modern bikes , very hard, a lot of mud in the hills
- Just after , the 12 and 13 July there is Enduro Auroux (48) in the top 3 Enduro old bikes but to 600km/6h

yes Jens
thank you in advance
they are not popular in the world because OVERLOOKED

yet it is a very fun scooter between 250 and 500cc and for me it is an obligation for 2 years
there regularly for HVA AE sale in Europe
the last week in Italy a very clean 420 to 1300 € , not expensive
I know several for sale: 390 420 500 430 but not 250 and 360
we find all the spare parts, but you must know the right address
freewheels are still made by the Germans

hallo Fabrice..
flywheel made in Germany .. can t believe that I didn t know this .. who s the guy? .. maybe I can make the autotheme a little bit more popular by building one up at the german husky forum

yes Jens , GMN is German company
this is the leader of the free wheel in the world
of course you can launch the Meeting of the German forums vintage dirt bikes

Hi Fabrice, yes I will definitely come to your meeting with my auto, I am riding the Auroux with several friends from the UK so coming down a week earlier is no problem and would be fantastic to meet up with fellow enthusiasts for the Auto. I have had mine from brand new, so had it for over 30 years now and have used it regularly this year. I see you have put a request for auto items on our website ( VinduroUK ), I do have a 1984 500 AE engine for sale, it is in fantastic condition and ready to go, looking for £1000 for it, I can send you pics if you are interested. I also have a 258 Army bike for sale, it is on the HVA-Factory website if you want to see it. Transporting to France is no problem as we do regular trips over there.
My Avitar picture is of me in Auroux 2 years ago on my 430 and this year I rode it on my 510 four stroke, unfortunately I smashed the casing on a large rocky hill climb so did not finish.
For any one thinking of going to this event it is the best Vintage enduro anywhere as far as I know, incredible riding and scenery plus very friendly organisers and competitors

hi Autopilot
nice to speak you
CAFE HUSKY looking I saw you liked Automatics
this is good news, that you come to the meeting next Summer
Are your friends also Automen?
Do you know other guys or who might come?
if you did Auroux in 2011 as I was in WR400 84 but it was my last
your engine really interested me because I have a project AMXorAC500 82 SS
but still in private
it seems me that there is a guy who seeks a Military Auto on shread "AM258"

Fabrice:
OK, this sounds interesting. Another good reason to visit France again and the Pyrenees.
Checking the map, Lagor is west of Pau about 25 km ? Are both Enduros located there?
Dave

hello Dave
I see that you live in the USA in Portland !
and you want to come to the meeting in France !
I am very surprised because it's been a long travel , would you come with friends ?
but if it is possible for you I would find it very nice to meet you
if you're looking Lagor (64) on Google, the cross field is Southwest Lagor
seen very well
we must look to "Circuit-Terre-Rouy" here is the link :
http://circuit-terre-rouy.com/pages/indexpag.html
the only Enduro side of Lagor is Monein, July 6 has 10km
Auroux (48) it is in Lozere has 600km
What bike do you have?

Fabrice,
I'd like to come over, it sounds like fun. I'll see how my 2014 summer schedule goes.
Thanks for the information and link.
If I come over, it would be with my wife. It would be nice to meet you and other Automatic friends.

I had a couple of Husqvarna Automatics, an 84 500 AE and a 87 430 AE. Fun bikes to ride.
Dave

My bike is a 1981 420 AXC, I bought in 1987 in Detroit, Michigan, where I lived for three years.
I am now based in Bayonne, on the Basque Coast
Looking forward to meeting you in France South West next summer
