Ya, that's what I was thinking! Then the light bulb went off and I said if it worked on The Husaberg it just might work for the Husky two stroke. Hey just a concept and no Husky isn't working on this one.
So that concept seems to be working so well for Husaberg, everyone says the 450FE feels like a 250 2 stroke. If husky does that to the 250 will that make it feel like a 1 stroke?
Too bad. I'd be all over it. As much as I like my 4 stroke I hope 2 strokes stay around and progress for years to come.
No, but the idea of a 250 or 300 2 stroke feeling like a 125 2 stroke had me thinking. Also with a 2-stroke you don't have the lubrication issues that you have with a 4 stroke... making it easier to do. If you think about it... it wouldn't be that complicated. BlipBlip
I'm all with you on this one. I like the idea of a 125 feeling 300. The 250/300 is wayyyy overdue for a redesign anyway and while they're at it lets make it a DI 2 stroke.
There's a belief out there that by moving the crankshaft up and between the two axles as Husaberg did... you create a gyroscopic inertia effect that produces a very light feeling machine while the engine is spinning. If that is true could you imagine the benefit a 2-stroke might gain from doing the same thing? Actually if you look at the new 2009 KTM 50SX engine you'll see that they too moved the crank up higher in the engine for that same reason. Interesting thought. HuskyRips/BlipBlip
Does your Husky 2stroke concept have fuel injection? Might as well thow in electric start. TW I heard a rumor that Kawasaki was working on a Husaberg style motor.
I like the idea and have ridden the 09 450 and 570 berg and they are heavy beasts to lift to the stand but feel light and nimble in the woods. I LOVED the 570 in tight woods. And for the 2009 KTM 50SX I don't know if that is intentional on that bike for that reason as there is a TON of ways to loose weight on that bike with aluminum and upside down forks etc, but in that class spending big $$$ on exotic engine packages Cool post
Ya I rode the new burg too and yes it's heavy on the stand, but light when riding it. On the stacked motor concept... I think you're going to see it in on the next generation of KTMs 2-strokes FIRST! The next question is who's going to follow and what other manufactures reintroduce the 2-stroke back into their product line. This is an interesting new 2-stroke technology that i wish all manufactures would embrace: http://www.ski-doo.com/brphtml/skidooenginetech/en/Index.htm BlipBlip/HuskyRips
I can't remember the exact numbers, but a Ski-Doo Rotax E-Tech 600 twin 2 stroke has a better EPA emissions number than a Can-Am quad with a Rotax 450 EFI single 4 stroke. It's pretty neat technology.
Actually it was the key reasons they did it! It makes it real easy for the little guys and if you notice the crank is in the same position as it is on the Husaburg!
