Is it a thermostat?
Looks like a vent for cooling system?
cylinder heat with flap !
it is an exhaust power valve like yamaha ypvs but controlled by exhaust gas pressure, like Aprilia 'RAVE'
Are you sure ? Seems like there's a lot of stuff to go through and complications to get from up there down to where the exhaust port is ??
you mean ROTAX R.A.V.E valve.
Yes the Rotax R.A.V.E. valve is the same thing as Aprilia R.A.V.E. (Regulation Aprilia Valve Exhaust) - (then few years later Aprilia made RAVE 2 that was controlled by an electric small motor.)
This one on Husqvarna 250 1986 was made by Vertemati brothers (Triuggio, Italy), tested on track by USA rider Donnie Cantaloupi. The sistem (similar as RAVE) was smart: at high RPMs the pressure in the exhaust zone of the cylinder trough the two small tubes was going in that kind of mushroom and was enough to open the spring retained 'guillotine' valve to raise up the exhaust port, to have more power (43 CV at 8500).
this are the parts of the head:
Rotax.Adjustable.Variable. Exhaust. Rotax makes Aprilias engines.
yes WRX, what you say is exact, but Aprilia used the same acronym changing the meaning: Regulation Aprilia Valve Exhaust.
I know well Aprilia engines at that time were Rotax, I was the motogp photographer for Aprilia in the period of 2 strokes: 250 with Biaggi, Bayle and also 400cc. with Reggiani, till the Gilera 250 with Simoncelli.
