Help! I broke one of my clamps that fixes the camshaft bearings in my TE450

Hello.
Can somebody please help me?
I have done a total rebuild of my 2007, Husqvarna TE450 engine. Almost done, and just the cylinder head to go. When I losened one of the clamps that holds one of the cam shaft bearings in place, it somehow broke right off.
The big problem is; this is not an separate item #. It's just listed as a complete cylinderhead. So I'm forced to search for a used item, from maybe a blown engine or a cylinderhead or something.
Does one of you guys, that lives an breathes for Huskies, have any idea how to save my day?

Used is the way to go unless you could have your dealer try to specially get one.

Can it not be argon arc welded back in place?

Maybe, but that will be my last option I think......
To have a totally rebuildt engine from the bottom, and to top it with a welded part will not make me sleep well, though!

probably not. a last resort at the best.

Arild- I agree with rancher1, get a used head (and it might be the same cam bearing holder from 250-510s '07-'10. the bearing numbers would tell that story, I bet). [edit: get a used head and use the bearing holder from it]

some american/english search terms would be: bearing cap, bearing holder, pillow block; (cam, camshaft)

Seriously, I don't wanna embarrass you- but how did you manage to do that? (if it was a stupid-human trick, betcha I've done much worse... thank god youtube has only been around about 10 years).

whoops- I think I figured it out... it's asymmetrical.

I wish I knew! I found a tiny, tiny and loose metal part in the top, and when i losened the screws it just fell apart. No sound, no violence......
Anyway.....thanks for tipping me. I'll have to keep on searching.

hmmmm. Is it possible to install it reversed? And if so, would that leave it off the bearing? I am asuming this on the gear-end of the cam... unless these cams have roller bearings on both ends.

It's the right side on the intake cam, no.4. Away from the gear. And yes, there is rollerbearings in boht ends.
I might have found this part, at a Norwegian FB page. Don't know for sure yet.

Let me ask a question that may be important.

Is that a plain bearing or does a roller bearing fit inside?

The plain bearing caps are machined together with the head and a cap from another head might have to be re-machined. it can be done but you have to send it out to Engine Dynamics or someone. I would not be surprised if Engine dynamics can fix that one! Bolt it up, weld it, cut it down and machine it

If it is a roller bearing you can most likely just slap another on your head and put the roller bearing in there.

It clamps a roller bearing. The camshafts has two rollerbearings. One in each en, and both bearings is fixed by such clamps.

If the cap runs directly on the cam, it will have been machined as a part of the head machining process and a used replacement would need to be remachined with your head.
If it holds down a bearing mounted to the cam, it may be close enough without matching.

This is the case here, and I have conkluded the same way as you.
Anyway, it's much better than welding.

there were some aftermarket caps made in europe, out of 7075, big money but strong as hell. lot of supermoto guys running the higher lift cams installed them.

BTW:
I have found a new (used) top end, that will save my day.

toxicmoto has them in stock, these are made out of 6061 which should b good, the ones in europe were made out of 7075. prob less then a used head.

Thanks! I've got my bike up and running again, with another top end on it. But, then I don't have to throw that other top end away. Maybe I'll restore it, and either sell it or keep it for spare. Thanks again! :-)
