  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gas Leaking out the Carb Overflow Tube - 04 Husky TC450

Hate to revive an old thread, but i'm having the same issue with my 450. I just wanted to confirm the part number that needs to be replaced. The part #37 mentioned above says needle jet on the fische I found on Sudco? Can someone point me in the right direction for part numbers? Thanks.

Sorry for the ginormous picture...:excuseme:

Hello mate, the fuel metering float needle and seat are item #41 in the diagram you've posted and the o-ring for the seat is item#40.

Be aware that the carb on the '04 TC450 (which I'm assuming is the model you're looking for) is a Mikuni TMR 41, which is different to the one in the diagram.

Hope this helps.

Thanks alot. I searched on the Sudco website but could only find the "TM or TMX Series" carbs, the TMR I could not get a hold of. Your help is greatly appreciated!

It has been a long time, but I vaguely recall calling them. If it is the company that I am thinking of they are quite knowledgeable and sold direct if the quantities were large enough. At least you could confirm part numbers.

here we go, from the UK carb specialist Allen's website:

http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/exp-tmr.html

exp-tmr.gif

Part numbers:

40a: H2-786-36011-size Float Valve Assy (For Single Carb)

41: KV/10 O-ring: Float Valve Assy

The float needle / seat assembly is available in three sizes (2.0 / 3.3 / 3.8) so if you need one of these and your carb specialist can't help with identification you'll have to look for any markings stamped on the brass seat you already have. The numbers presumably refer to the size of the bore that flows the gas, so it's possible that the big TMR41 uses the largest (3.8) size (so the part number would be H2-786-36011-3.8) but I'm just guessing here...

I know that a lot of Jap multis use the TMR (here in the UK at least) so hopefully it can't be that hard to find the right part.

Edit: Coffee, perhaps you may want to split this thread and title the split part appropriately so that future travellers can happen upon the info that they are looking for. :)

As suggested I split the thread. The carbs are really different. I did not even realize that they were so different.

Call Halls Husqvarna and talk to Raymond. I just picked up a 50 needle from them. They are almost unobtainable. The TMR carbs are "special".

Thanks for all the info guys. Yeah it seems to be hard to even get a hold of the correct fiche let alone the actual parts...but I think I got it wired now.

Or at least I thought I had it wired. Ordered the part #41 o-ring, but when I took apart my carb the o-rings were completely different. The rings on my carb have square outer edes and a little notch...the o-rings I got were regular o-rings with the rounded edges and no notch. :excuseme:

Ended up going for a ride today and had a small tip over, bike stalled out and was heck to re-start. Killed the battery trying, ended up starting it for about 5 minutes using the kicker, but after it died again...nothin'. :banghead:

Gotta get this thing sorted, today was a bummer...

Found this image of the carb on my bike.
