I recently bought a Montesa Cappra that had 17" Fox shocks on it. I had a pair on my 78 Elsinore when I was a kid back into early eighties and I have always wanted another pair.

Theres nothing wrong with my Ohlins, other than a poor color choice by the PO. I just think it would be cool to have both sets to experiment with.

They need to be rebuilt so looking on Thor Lawson's website I see he sells taller upper and lower end cap$. I think I will need the taller lower caps for sure and possibly taller upper caps as well. I am curious if someone has already crossed this bridge and what their solutions were.

It's a lot of dolLars for no gain .
In saying that they will probably work ok and half the fun of a hobby like old huskys is doing what you want to them
Those eyes in the fox shocks look like they have no sideways rotation built into then . So you'd have to try your luck with rubber bushes or try fit ball joints

Fox Air shocks are way over rated, they are cool looking, but they only work OK.

My suspension guru says they are very average compared to the fox coil shocks of the era

    Yes, and inferior to Ohlins.

The coolness factor is off the chart, but I'm an Ohlins guy. Every time I ride my 430 I'm surprised at how nice the rear suspension is.

If you did want to run them on a Husky you would have to get a '79-80 swing arm with the normal lower mount on top of the arm instead of the '81-82 side post mount.

I wasn't trying to talk you out of it, but didn't want you to think the bike would be night and day better by using the air shox. Sometimes we build these bikes just to enjoy some old rare pieces, knowing that they may or may not be the best possible setup. As I said, the coolness...

The rest of the bike looks really well set up, BTW. Nice job.
