• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Factory Bent Frame

1982 XC 430

Husqvarna
AA Class
1984 WR Frame ( the last of the Air Cooled 250's ) very low hour bike with original Tires. I assume that the front Down Tube is bent from the Factory, to allow the Exhaust to clear. I see no dents or other damage to suggest this happened in the short life this bike was ridden.

They did that, I don't think they did it for the four stroke, not sure about the 125. You are quite fortunate, should be a long time before you see metal pieces of much size on the magnet.

Yes, the frame down tubes were made that way to clear the exhaust on air cooled. Same thing on my 83 500CR.

I had the same scare as you . Coming off an 82 430 XC restoration I moved to my first white bike 84 resto of the fantabulous 240 WR and thought I had a bent frame. Couldn't figure out how the frame was bent but the bike had zero evidence of a smack up. Once I noticed the asymmetric engine mounts all was well!

The 4 stroke has the frame simmetric.
I will post some pics soon to compare the difference immediately.

All of the 83/84 Air cooled 2t frames are more or less the same. Differences between the Enduro / XC frames and the CR frame is the rear loop and the under motor guard rail and sometimes a steering lock and floating or non floating rear brake setup.

The Aircooled 510 frames have a straight front down tube and a dent in the right side lower frame rail to miss the bigger ignition flywheel.

Andy.
