  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Eliminated my clutch safety switch on TXC310R

In my usual target to eliminate potential race/trail fails. I did not like the juice clutch pressure starter safety switch (I know these are very bullet proof as rear brake light switches). For a bunch of reasons (like what if I rip the wires off on the trail-bummer would need to kick start her)
I wanted it gone, I like my button start and all ready have long time habit of pulling in my clutch before starting anyway and also have a habit of putting my machine neutral when I stop.
I salvaged a common automotive standard wired connector of the same square 2 wire contact type thats on the switch pigtail from my sponsor shops salvage/extra parts bin.
Then I just used an aircraft spec enviro stub/parallel splice to connect the 2 wires to short the circuit. I could have just cut off the connector from the wire loom and spliced those 2 wires, but felt it was better to leave the main harness intact for future users.
So now I have a plug in, shorting connector.
For now it remains, but I will remove the pressure switch and install a standard banjo screw in its place. TC250R parts catalog sheets will serve that part requirement.

I am debating the same,
On one hand I like the idea of eliminating it, one less thing to go wrong, I have a connector to go into it from a 2011 GG smashed headlight.
But
I have a rekluse and dont think it should stall very much, I spent countless hours reading this form about starter issues ect. With the clutch switch it prevents the starter from spinning at the wrong time and possible due damage to a weak link. I can see myself out of shape at some point in a race and possible part off me hitting the button? Maybe I am paroniod,

I think I will see if it stalls much after I finally get a few rides on it

My switch failed 10mins into a good day at the track. I installed a shorai battery the night before so my initial thoughts were "bad battery". I kicked it all day and forgot about the issue. I had a look the next day and found the clutch safety switch loose. The very fine thread was stripped (couldn't repair) but the switch itself was still working. Bad design in my opinion...not enough thread to hold the switch in place.
