  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Double take mirrors feedback?

Can anyone tell me if double take mirrors vibrate? My stock TE mirrors are pretty shake free but I would like foldable mirrors. I have HDB brush guards but some say their folding mirrors vibrate too much to be clear.
The double take mirrors are quite adjustable and strong but the nylon arm looks like it may vibrate. Feedback would be great...specifically this is for a 630.

I have the HDB handgaurds, and at first the mirrors seemeed too shaky, but I gave them a second chance, and now they are just fine. Besides, just go faster and then there will be nothing to look at in the mirrors .

Except the Crown Vic speeding up to nail yo ass :(

What did you do to make the HDB mirrors acceptable? Or did you just get used to it...

The Dec. issue of Dirt Rider did a write-up and say this mirror is great. Author Tim Sullivan claims several thousand miles of use with no issues and specified no vibration.

A bit pricey.....so I went with Ken Sean Universal Dual-Sport Mirror 970510 for $13....have them on order will report my thoughts................

I just deceided to take off the big mirrors and give them a second chance. I made sure the hardware was nice and snug to limit the shaking as much as possible. It did take a little getting used to, and they are not as clear as the originals, but they are pretty good. Good enough to see the po po anyhow.

Vibration depends on what is transferred to your bars. If your bars vibe, so will the mirrors. I use the DT mirrors and they're ok. I like the flexibility of swapping out other RAM mounted gear.

It also depends on the flexibility of the armature. My stickers are steel and quite clear. The Double Take polymer look like they would flex and vibrate, that's why I posted originally. Sounds like so- so image clarity wise...

After braking every mirror I've ever used; I switched to Double Take Mirrors. I switch them between my two dualsports using the ram mounts. The may cost a little more but they last and being able to switch them saves me from having to buy two sets. At this point its important to say I know the owners and do try to support them, but they have a good product. Vibration is no more or less than any other mirror I've used.
