i got offered a Te 450 2009 in Showroom condition. 200km on the meter. never saw the bush. 5K
or should i go for the 2011 TE 449/511. 7.5K

i like to ride tide ST and Hilclimbs and Wet Aussie Conditions.

Currently i own a TE 510. Think its a bit top heavy. Mate of mine mentioned a TE450 would be better.
Also my 510 did 9000 kms of Aussie Bush and is a 2008 model.

    Thanks Guys for any advise.

IMHO, TE450 should feel pretty much the same as your TE510

The 450 will feel slightly less top heavy and less power but virtually the same as the 510. I owned both a very nice 08 TE450 and now a 2011 TE511. I prefer the 511. Feels lighter and smaller when rolling. Smother motor, less top heavy due to the tank under the seat.

I owned an 09 te 450 , good bike. The power up needs no extra parts. Now on a 12 511 txc , had to buy a pipe, fuel mapping needs work, fuel tank expansion = more parts, suspension needs work. Spent another $2000 last month still needs pc v to make it run better. The 450 is less work and money.

With the power up plug and gutted muffler the 511 is fast. With a $200 muffler and $40 remap it is really FAST!. EFI is better onthe 449/511 (Keihn). Fuel expansion? My 511 has a 2.4 gallons tank good for 70-90 miles, just about like the stock 450. I did the suspension on both bikes.

Both are very sweet bikes, no wrong answer here but he already has the very similar 510.

    Hi 9880,

I've just recently moved from an XR400R to a TE511 and the Husky is much easier in tight stuff. Even with more power.

I ride quite a bit up around Three Bridges where it gets very slippery and it grips really well.

    Cheers,

    Jamie

Last person I saw get offered a showroom , low hours demo MY09 blew up in 12 miles. And it came from a dealer on Cafe Husky. I would steer clear of that one.

Anywhere I like :D Many people int he NW run trials tires as they hook up amazingly well on wet roots and rocks which we have lots of. That said I ran knobs on them more than trials tires.

Those wet ferns and brush will soak you in 300 feet in the winter here. Run them or be cold and cant hold onto the grips. Love those goofy looking things.

Velcro strapped on so you can toss them in your gear bag and throw them one 10 seconds before heading out if you wish.

I have the '08 TE 510 and rode a '10 TE 450 once to clear a trail section for a buddy. Both bikes p/u, no map switch installed on the 450, original owners. I was shocked at the difference in the power delivery of the two bikes. My 510 felt violent in comparison to the 450. I would be hard pressed to go from a 510 to a 450 at the same weight for the difference in the power and delivery. I would be happy having both the 510 and any year 310 for the weight difference and less tiring power delivery. I haven't ridden a 449 or 511, but everybody who owns them loves them.

I believe the OP is in Australia, any savings at GP or any other husky dealer would be eaten up in shipping and hassle.
