What's the difference between a Husqvarna XC & WR?

    Suspension?

    Ignition?

Buy a disc with the parts sheets in pdf format. Or download them individually and put in a folder. Things vary by year, perhaps by displacement like the transmissions 250 they differ, 430 they are the same. Do not forget about the nine pegs per side that keep the tire from spinning on the rim on the wr and te but not ae and xc. At least in some years. You are on the right track with those two guesses.

    I'm going to guess here.

The WR came with the SEM ignition
The XC had the moto plat with the flywheel.

    The XC had cr suspension.

    Just a guess.

From what I remember, the XC had CR ratios in gears 1-3, and WR from 4-6, with CR suspension.

it all varies alot from year to year...would take alot to break it down by when vaguely not even asking a certain year.

I'm building bikes from parts. I have a complete '83 430wr engine. With a moto plat ign it's a XC. Now the suspension is next.

The 70's bikes were "OR" transmissions they had first three gears WR the last three gears cr. I don't see any marked engines in the 80's besides cr and WR.

My 84/250wr ac has a SEM ignition. So far it runs good but I've seen the SEM fail at will.

All my 82 WRs came to me with Motoplat Mini 6 ignition but according to spec they started with SEM and I would say all 3 of them were caught on warranty as those Motoplats are as old as the bikes are. My 84 250 WR has a SEM and was running when I got it now tests spotty with an ohm meter.

When I got my very first Husqvarna bike running a '83 250wr with its SEM after a first awesome ride I gave her a bath and she wouldn't start. The SEM died on the spot. I gave it her last rights and bought a used SEM. She ran great till I sold her.
My second 83 250wr I put in a PVL. I had twin milk trucks in 430wr and in 250wr.

How come the SEM ignition lasts in the Husqvarna saws? The only thing I seen in the saws was we had to repoxy the magnets in the flywheels once in a while. Maybe the heat of the engine hurts the stator? I like the two 100watt lighting coils. I used one for the rear tail light and stop light. The other for the headlight.

I agree with Surprize about the lead corroding. That is what he has seen in his experience with them. As far as them lasting longer in chain saws, I know of no one giving one a bath with water anyway.

I checked at Phillip's website and found after the OR changed to XC only 250s had specific XC transmissions while the same engine transmission code was used for XC/WR 430 1981 thru 1983
